Will the District be able to receive federal disaster assistance?

The District has started the process to recoup the costs associated with the storm.   Representatives met with the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on 30 June 2017 to provide initial estimates of the costs.  The District may be able to recover 75% of the approximately $60,000.00 expended on storm recovery.

Members of the board are continuing to work with FEMA to recoup some of the funds expended due to the storm.   Due to damage caused by the hurricanes in Puerto Rico and Texas, the FEMA support for the Nebraska disaster was strictly curtailed.  FEMA restored support for the Nebraska disaster in late 2017 and the efforts to remimburse the district have resumed.
